Festival Community

The Living Room

Next to the path that leads to the main Ritual Circle is the Living room. A place to socialize, hang out, sit down, and take a load off. We shedule workshops here at 10am, 1 and 3 PM, but beyond that, feel free to come in, sit down, chat, listen, or even snooze..... It's a place fo all of us to gather when we're not doing anything else.... we highly reccomend spending some time here, the conversations are varied, and Fascinating. We've overhead conversations on the most varied topics imaginable, taking some of the wierdest turns you can dream of... We once heard a conversation start with intentional community, and over the next 45 minutes touch on Bronze age jewelry, quantum theory, Japanese swordmaking, Hydrogen fuel, and Performance magic (and Yes, in that order. and no, Wade wasn't a part of it, but he did quiver his lip when he found out he missed it.)

Youth Center

A dedicated youth center, hosted by our very capable Jeanie, is constructed for our youth tracks. here, our youth meet, learn, play, and have such a grand time that the youth generally line up each morning for the center to open. Details of the youth activities for PhoenixPhyre 2007 will be posted as they become available.

Teen Camp

a special place for our Teens and Tweens

Teen Camp needs community's help. We are trying to make a space for our teens to have for themselves. This is something they have repeatedly asked for since we moved to the new property. Kristin and Zephyr will be co-cordinating teen camp and all the activities that will be planned in the future for teen camp. We really don't have a budget at this time but we do have a screen tent and lots of ideas. What we need from our community is coolers, decorations (such as bean bags, fabric, glittery shiny sparkly anything, lighting (non flame type and non electrical at this time), snacks and drinks, and seating of any type. We need your understanding that while you are welcome as an adult to come in to teen camp and say hi, this space is for the teens. The teens need to make, decorate, and plan this as their own space. Ideas are always welcome for future activities and workshops. After each festival we will send out future needs and wants for the teens. Our goal is to provide a space that not only will our teens want to hang out in but that they will plan their future wants for their festival experience. We have remarkable teens and young people; let's all help them feel they too have a place in our community. Thank you so much for any and all help,

Early Setup

Billie has offered to discount early arrivals for $15.00/night per person.  There is an additional $5.00 per day for electric, per site.  If you wish to set up early you should be aware that no festival camps, including Merchant booths will be set up until after noon on Tuesday, April 4th.

Cameras

We don’t want to inhibit your enjoyment and we must take steps to protect our community.  Proper identification will be required and everyone with cameras/video equipment will be issued a special armband which must be worn at all times.  Anyone observed with a camera/video equipment and without the proper armband will leave the festival, and/or have the camera confiscated and the images destroyed, at the descretion of the Event Coordinator.  So please! don’t loan your camera/video equipment to anyone “for a quick shot”.  Your cooperation is valued and your sensitivity is necessary for a happy festival experience for everyone.

Meal Tickets and Cooking

Meals will be catered by our Staff Kitchen. Meal tickets are $50.00 for the entire event. Meals served are Wednesday Dinner, three meals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and a Sunday Brunch. Pay as you go meals are available, but the food is purchased based on the number of meals presold, and presold meal tickets eat first. We will have a limited vegetarian menu.  If you have special dietary needs, please plan on preparing your own meals.
Fires will be allowed at your campsite only in approved areas and with approval from Safety; however, wood is not available at the site, so we recommend you bring your camp stove, or your own wood. The site requires the use of an above the ground type portable fire pit, and does not siupply them.

Airport  Transportation

Remember:  If you’re flying in, you need to book into Jacksonville International Airport (JAX).  We will probably be providing transportation to the site, so  please contact us at 904-674-0607 if you  need a ride.  We may have several options available closer to the festival dates.

Bardic Circle

Our community is enormously talented. Virtually every pagan we have met has a muse on their shoulder.
Bardic circle is an acknowledgment of the older times when, around the campfire or at the hearth, the community comes together to sing, dance and tell stories. Please come and share of yourself on Thursday evening in the Ritual Circle

Work / Study Program

In the past there have been individuals who needed to attend the festivals but were financially unable to attend. This program is set up so that those who need to attend, can. Contact Dianne for information concerning the work/study program at 904-674-0607 for more information. (Quickly please, though, as the scholarships go FAST, typically less than 30 days.)

The Mystic Fire

Our ritual fire is lite at the beginning of the event, and extenguished when the festival ends. It functions as the center of the community, it's heart. The fire exists in the center of the ritual circle, and is lovingly tended, fed, and nurtured during the festival by dedicated members of the Phamily, our community. Ashes from festivals past are kept and added to each new fire as part of the opening ceremony, and collected at the end for when the Phamily meets once again. We treat the ritual space, and the Community ritual fire as sacred space, kept for the good of all. The Ritual Fire is a SACRED FIRE, and the heart of our community. Please do not throw trash, cigarette butts, etc.. into the Community's heart! Please Keep non-Sacred Tobacco products, and Food outside of the Main Ritual Circle. And, please, no glass or ceramic containers that could break and cut the feet of the fire Drummers and Dancers!

Drum Circle Blessing Ritual

To honor the joys and sorrows of the past, to express the hope for the future, and to celebrate being back among Phamily, these are the goals of this Blessing. All members of the Phoenix Phyre Phamily are asked to come and participate as feasible. Bring Drums, or Horns, Flutes or Guitar, Tambourine, Cymbals, Banjos, Whistles, or just your Voice. Dance if you can, Clap along or just sit and Watch, what ever your ability allows. There is room and a place for all in this Celebration.

Crone and Sage Circles

At each festival we set aside time and space for a circle for the Crones and Sages who wish to meet and do...well....special Crone and Sage things. The Crone Circle will be held on Thursday evening after Bardic. Crones who wish to participate should let Ardy know by sometime Thursday afternoon. At the same time, but in a different location, The sage Circle will be held. Sages wishing to participate should contact Bryan Stout no later than Thursday Dinner.

Movie/Game Nights

From 8:00 to 11:00 P.M., there will be movies and video games available to our Teens & Tweens. Donations of Food (pizza, burgers, chips, etc.) and Drinks (sodas) for both Homework Time and Movie/Game Time would be greatly appreciated!

Community Service

Our goal is to create a feeling of our own community - a village, if you will - not only for this event, but to continue well beyond this gathering. To further this end, we ask each guest to work two 2-hour shifts during the festival. We've found that working together helps maintain the feeling of community spirit we all enjoy. There are a wide variety of community service jobs available: Workshop presentation, Kitchen, Safety, First Aid tent, Childcare, and Registration.

For Your Information:

We invite you to come in and sit a spell at R&D's the Phamily Living room located next to the path leading to Main Ritual Circle. Please feel free to drop in and say Hi! We will also hold several workshops here throughout the festival.
Also remember that the first aid tent is located in the center of Merchants Row. If you need a band aid, some gatorade or such, stop by, and the Phamily volunteers who are there will take care of showing you where those supplies are located. Speaking of First Aid, a little prevention goes a long way - Please be aware of the Sun and keep Hydrated and Sunscreened during the event, sunburn and dehydration is, by far, the most common problem that occurs at a festival.
We've had a request to remind everyone to be respectful of workshop presenters, performers and Ritual facilitators by keeping the noise levels down when in the vicinity of these events.
Phoenix Festivals organizes Pagan Gatherings: PhoenixPhyre, Our signature Springtime event in April and AutumnMeet in November.
The Gatherings are primarily networking and informational events designed to bring together a wide variety of Neopagan paths and traditions while being entertaining and informative.
